The specifications of circular knitting machine needles are marked by different English letters and numbers, each of which has its own representative meaning.
The initial letters are WO, VOTA, and VO. The initial letters WO are generally knitting needles with multiple stitches on a single needle, such as WO110.49 used on towel machines, WO147.52 used on disc jacquard machines. VOTA is generally used when a needle is divided into only one section and two sections, representing one section (or high version), such as VOTA 74.41 and VOTA65.41 used on the upper disc of the above machine. When a needle is divided into only one section and two sections, VO represents the second section (or low version), such as VO74.41 and VO65.41; when a needle has more than two sections, it generally starts with VO.
There are generally two groups of Arabic numerals after the initial letters, separated by a dot. The first group represents the length of the knitting needle, in MM (millimeter)
The second set of numbers represents the thickness of the knitting needle, the unit is 0.01MM (one thread). The actual thickness of the knitting needle is generally thinner than the indicated thickness.
The second group of letters acts as a separator. Generally, manufacturers will use the first letter of their company name. For example, Groz is G, Jinpeng is J, Yongchang is Y, and Nanxi is N.
The numbers after the letters represent the travel of the needle latch and the number of sections. This marking may be different for each manufacturer. Some manufacturers may add an additional set of numbers to indicate the travel of the needle latch .
