In the first eight months, China’s home textile exports maintained sound growth

From January to August this year, China’s home textile exports maintained steady and sound growth. The specific export characteristics are as follows:

1. The cumulative increase in exports has slowed down month by month, and the overall growth is still sound

From January to August of 2021, China’s textile product exports were 21.63 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 39.3% over the same period last year. The cumulative growth rate was 5 percentage points lower than the previous month and an increase of 20.4% over the same period in 2019. At the same time, the export of home textile products accounted for 10.6% of the total export of textile and apparel products, which was 32 percentage points higher than the growth rate of the overall export of textiles and apparel, effectively stimulating the recovery of the overall export growth of the industry.

From the perspective of quarterly exports, compared with the normal export situation in 2019, exports in the first quarter of this year increased rapidly, with an increase of nearly 30%. Since the second quarter, the cumulative growth rate has narrowed month by month, and fell to 22% at the end of the quarter. It has gradually increased since the third quarter. It tends to be stable, and the cumulative increase has always remained at about 20%. At present, China is the safest and most stable production and trade center in the world. This is also the main reason for the overall steady and healthy growth of home textile products this year. In the fourth quarter, under the background of the “dual control of energy consumption” policy, some enterprises are facing production suspension and production restrictions, and enterprises will face unfavorable factors such as shortage of fabric supply and price increases. It is expected to be higher than the export scale in 2019, or hit a record high.

From the perspective of main products, the export of curtains, carpets, blankets and other categories maintained rapid growth, with an increase of more than 40%. The export of bedding, towels, kitchen supplies and table textiles grew relatively slowly, at 22%-39%. between.

2. Maintaining overall growth in exports to major markets

In the first eight months, the export of home textile products to the world’s top 20 markets maintained growth. Among them, the demand in the U.S. and European markets was strong. The export of home textile products to the U.S. was 7.36 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 45.7% over the same period last year. It narrowed by 3 percentage points last month. The growth rate of home textile products exports to the Japanese market was relatively slow. The export value was US$1.85 billion, an increase of 12.7% over the same period last year. The cumulative growth rate increased by 4% from the previous month.

Home textile products have maintained overall growth in various regional markets around the world. Exports to Latin America have grown rapidly, nearly doubled. Exports to North America and ASEAN have increased rapidly, with an increase of more than 40%. Exports to Europe, Africa, and Oceania have also increased by more than 40%. More than 28%.

3. Exports are gradually concentrated in the three provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shandong

Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai and Guangdong are ranked in the top five textile export provinces and cities in the country, and their exports have maintained steady growth, with an export growth rate between 32% and 42%. It is worth noting that the three provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Shandong together account for 69% of the country’s total textile exports, and the export provinces and cities are becoming more concentrated.

Among other provinces and cities, Shanxi, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Tibet and other provinces and cities have experienced rapid growth in exports, all of which have more than doubled.
